What is a side hustle?
The transition from a fixed job to another fixed job in a different sector or to become a succesful solopreneur can be a rather difficult one without proper preparation. That is why I recommend you to do the same thing as I did after 1997 and that is start ‘side hustling’ next to your day job.
What is a side hustle?
“A side hustle is an additional job of additional work or ‘gigs’ in the offline or online gig economy that a person takes in addition to their primary job in order to supplement their income or because they want to start their own business in the future.”
After having obtained my European Executive MBA in 1997, I started to teach courses at the same business school I had obtained the different business administration diplomas myself. I facilitated ecommerce and ebusiness modules as part of regular business administration programs for IT-professionals and for managers.

I already had my first degree teaching certificate in economics for high schools, so I had sufficient theoretical background and on top of that, I wanted to see if and how I could make money teaching in business schools and how much time it would take to prepare my lessons.
These experiences were very valuable in different ways. I discovered that I was able to leverage the knowledge and experience I had in designing different types of offline courses and online courses since 1984 as an teacher of economics and especially since 1985 at the Amro Bank at Training & Development. And I also discovered again that instructor-led courses were not always the best way to learn the right things and fast as individual.
We all learn in a different ways and we all have different backgrounds and different objectives.
Side hustling is a great way to survive the Great AI Layoff. And that is even easier with online side hustles including AI-side hustles.
